There are days, especially these cold winter days, when our home is the only place to be.
Last Sunday, after running some errands in the early morning, being such a gloomy day…I decided to spend the noon at home, having some me time and simply relax. But I was not thinking about that spa-kind-of treatment, more like warm blankets and maybe a romantic movie.
Getting home,frozen after a quite short walk outside and seeing this incredible light coming through the living room window, made change my plans a bit and the next thing I know, I was holding in my hands one of my favorite contemporary poetry books: “Am sa te iubesc pana la sfarsitul lumii” (“I will love you until the end of the world”) by Marius Tuca – a Romanian well known journalist, but also a poet with a great style.
The white, icy light coming from the winter scenery outside made me stand for a minute or two, in the middle of the room, looking around thinking “Oh, how I love being at home!”. Suddenly, I realized that although I am home quite often (meaning in the morning before work, in the evening after work, at night while I am asleep and some hours on the weekend), I’m not really at home…because in the morning I am always on the run, getting ready for the day and thinking about all the things I have to get done in such a short time, in the evening I get to spend a pleasant dinner with Alex (my soon to be husband), talking about our day, writing on the blog and playing with my adorable pet, Oscar (an Australian cockatiel) and on the weekends I just want to enjoy being out and catching up with the things I didn’t have time for during the week.
Sadly, having a crazy, busy life…is making even being at home a luxury. Everyone who knows how hard it is to buy a house these days and making it look good with furniture and all the nice things that transforms a house into a home, will feel the same: we don’t enjoy our homes as much as we would like.
I don’t know about yours, but our home tells the story of who we are and is a collection of what we love. We love pure white and warm shades of cappuccino, Portuguese tiles, classic lines and beige wood, metallic decorations and cute ceramics for the kitchen. And I also thing that after all the trouble in having this beautiful home and all the love we put in making it so cozy and so special, our home needs to the pampered, and loved, and looked at.
“What on Earth could be more luxurious than a sofa, a book and a cup of tea, in your own personal place?” I see myself as being an adventurer at heart, but I love drinking my tea from my favorite snowflakes mug on my soft light grey armchair.
So my recipe for an indoor and inner journey consists in the following valuable elements:
– cozy and comfortable decorations: a fluffy blanket, a scented candle and chill natural light;
– a cup of Yogi Tea Relax (which I bought from Remedia Vert shop in Promenada Mall), an organic ayurvedic herb&spice infusion, which I drink almost every night because it calms both my body and my mind and helps me get a good night sleep. Yogi Tea Relax is a unique blend of gentle and mild herbs. The combination of chamomile and linden flower allows the body and mind to regain peaceful balance, while rose hips, orange peel and raspberry leaf bring a delicious softness to this gentle tea. My advice is to sit back, relax and enjoy the peaceful tranquility of this delightful blend and talk about happy things.
– a good book with a happy ending story. It may be your all time favorite novel, a funny biography or a cute poetry book full with love and joy.
I embraced positivity and enjoyment of everyday experiences before it was cool and people talked about Hygge (for those of you who have never heard this word before, hygge is a Danish term for taking pleasure from the simple, cozy things in life and the company of friends.) and I suggest you do the same. Everywhere you might be, just be thankful for what you have, confident about tomorrow and happy about your life.
Of course I didn’t miss the opportunity of having a quick photo session in order to show exactly what I am talking about in this new blogspot. As usual, you can find the pictures at the end of my story, so happy scrolling, everyone and don’t forget to send me your thoughts and suggestions on this topic.
Feel good. Be good. Do good.
