Marsala and magnolias
It’s that time of the year again, when magnolia trees are in full bloom and offer a delightful sight throughout the entire city. This flower is a symbol of beauty, sweetness and femininity and when they blossom and the petals fall, it is just breathtakingly beautiful, even unearthly.
I went for a walk on Sunday on my favorite street in Bucharest with the sole thought of admiring this amazing and delicate magnolia I visit for years. I find it very inspiring especially in the warm sunset light of mid spring.
For this wonderful spectacle of nature that doesn’t last more than a week I dressed in marsala (for me this is still the color of the year): marsala shirt with ruffles, marsala patent leather flats, a cute little marsala Coccinelle mini bag to match and a black leather “buckle up” skirt.
I find it very pretty how dark shades of red – like this burgundy – look like. They are not very flashy, yet you will not pass unnoticed with such a great color. Burgundy reminds me of sour cherries and plums and velvet and it makes me feel bold, unique and happy. In spring, magnolias have the same effect: they remind me of new beginnings and purity, they give me hope and make me love life even more.
In the end…they teach us a lesson: that we should never underestimate the true power of a wild flower…
“Breathtaking, delicate beauty of creamy perfection with roots running deep in southern soil,
A history almost As old as time, And endurance As though as steel,
She defies description And explanation But…Beauty is its own excuse.”
I invite you now to see my outfit and the incredible magnolias. No more words needed to express my joy.
Sweet pink kisses!
