Monday morning reminder
Brace yourselves, the “I hate Monday” quotes are coming. But not from my side.
For me, Monday means beginning. And beginning can not be bad. Monday gives me hope and power to start again and to do things better and even be a better version of myself (I actually try that everyday, not only on Mondays and I suggest you do the same).
On Monday life awakens all over again. I love all these crowded places, traffic jam, loud noises from all the people getting ready for their first meetings of the week and from all the children going to school. This is the actual life, full of plans and things to do. It can be about school, work, raising your kids or house chores, but all these little things take time and dedication and they can’t be done with excellence if you’re not passionate and optimistic.
Living in a big city like Bucharest keeps me in a continuous rush which I love. It keeps my brain with multiple tabs open at once, but also full of energy. Although my schedule is crazy everyday from Monday until Friday and sometimes on the weekend also, I always keep in mind to make some extra time for some special activities. I never say no to a walk in park, fancy dinner with friends, maybe a glass of wine with my best friend to catch up on a few stuff, a cozy cinema night, an opera concert or, why not, getting things done at home…because nobody will do them for me. Between us, my personal favorite is cooking some fancy meal with my boyfriend (and my cockatiel, Oscar).
Of course I would love some extra free days just for myself, to lay in bed all day and watch movies, but I love being busy 90% of my time and keeping my mind focused.
I also love my job and going to work in the morning (And no, it’s none of that corporate brain wash. I do love going to work and I love the people I work with.) Maybe that’s why I think Monday has its charm. Having our (second, and third) coffee at the office, talking to each other about our weekend activities, finding out about future plans, discussing the news, but also organizing our work for the entire week and setting our priorities.
Having a busy life is my thing…but I don’t see myself stressed (there are very rare exceptions). I somehow manage to be zen all day long and don’t allow anybody to kill my vibe. I’ve always been like this, doing several things at once and I can’t imagine my life any other way. This is the way I function.
Summing up, Monday means motivation: in doing (anything) better.
In order for me to pleasant Monday (day) I have to feel good about myself. So I always stick to morning routine: wake up, dress up, show up! I like to dress up and look nice and fresh even though sometimes the weather is not in my favor and I end up looking like a walking fluffy pillow and I never ever leave my home without make up on and my hair done (nothing fancy: straight hair, loose curls or a chic pony tail). Also, breakfast is very important for me. And coffee. Coffee is the most important. I can’t (and don’t want to) function without my much loved espresso by Nespresso. Only then I am ready to go and conquer the (wonder)world!
Monday is about hope and motivation and courage. So I find myself smiling in the morning, each morning.
So, please stop waiting for Friday and stop hating Monday. Instead, start doing things right and be more confident! Okay, it’s Monday, but who said Mondays have to be awful? Be a rebel and have a great day anyway!
Merry Monday and Happy New Week!
